Recipient of the 20 th Annual Crystal Apple Award

Hudson, NY, March 2, 2009 – The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce A. Colarusso & Son, Inc. as the recipient of the 20 th Annual Crystal Apple Award. The Gala was held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Lippera's at the Chatham House in Chatham. Over 100 attendees enjoyed a fabulous dinner crafted by the staff at Lippera's at the Chatham House. A video created by Midhudsonmedia highlighted the 2008 accomplishments of the five finalists and a Steuben Glass crystal apple was presented to A. Colarusso & Son, Inc. by the event Emcee Assemblyman Marc Molinaro and Chamber Chairman Michael Sullivan.

A. Colarusso & Son, Inc., a family owned business, has been operating since 1912 from the same Newman Road location in Hudson, NY.  Since that time they have been building and rebuilding all the roads in a 100-mile radius of Hudson.  As one of the largest employers in Columbia County, they provide high paying jobs to 150+ seasonal and full time employees.  They believe in stewardship of the land, the community, and the people of Columbia County, this is evident in the support they give to local charities and non-profits, from the Columbia-Greene Community Hospice, the Hudson Area Library to Boy Scout Troop #102.  The company will celebrate their first 100 years in business in 2012 and they look forward to serving Columbia County and the Hudson Valley for the next 100 years.

The other finalists included: The Bank of Greene County, Columbia Land Conservancy, Ginsberg's Foods, Inc. and The Olana Partnership. The annual award is presented to a Chamber member business to recognize an extraordinary contribution to economic progress, community improvement, and the quality of life in Columbia County during 2008.
