20th Annual Crystal Apple Award Gala - February 27, 2009
The Chamber is pleased to annouce the five finalists for the 20th Annual Crystal Apple Award Gala. The five finalists are A. Village Dodge Business After Hours - February 12, 2009

Chamber Ski Nite at Catamount - February 28, 2009

Chamber Ski Nite will be held on Saturday, February 28th at Catamount Ski Area from 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm  Skiing and snowboarding will be discounted for Chamber members and the public.  Lift tickets are discounted to $15.00, rentals $15.00 and lessons $10.00.  Tickets can be purchased at 10 locations around Columbia County.  Please click her for more information

Promote Your Business in the April 2009 Chamber Connection Mailing
Are you looking for new connections?  The Chamber Connection is a great way to promote your business to over 1,000 Chamber members for only a $150.  Promote your business this spring and get a great return on your investment.  The next mailing will go out in April 2009.  The deadline for materials is March 16. Chamber Stats

We wish to congratulate Cheryl Meenagh the Chamber’s Program Director on the birth of a baby boy. Aidan Michael Meenagh was born on Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 during a snow storm. We send our best wishes to Cheryl and her family and look forward to having her return soon.

The Bank of Greene County - Donald Gibson, President & CEO of Greene County Bancorp, Inc. Martinelli-Slocum Publishing is currently offering ad space in the 2009 edition of Amtrack NY by Rail, a full color, one of a kind in New York State publication.  For the second year ther will be a special Columbia County Co-operative advertising section.  The issue is set to publish in mid May.  The Hudson Amtrack station had more then 150,000 riders in 2008.  Space reservation deadline is March 15, 2009.  For more information contact Joe at jgisburne@optonline.net or call 718-908-2999.

Community Events

Enjoy the Hudson Valley Cheese Festival - The third annual Hudson Valley Cheese Festival, a celebration of great cheeses, fine wines and culinary talent from the Hudson Valley returns to downtown Hudson on Sunday, February 15 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  The festival  will be held at Deffebach gallery on Warren Street in Hudson.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Columbia County Bounty.  Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by calling Verdigris Tea & Bakery at (518) 828-3139 or visit the Hudson Valley Cheese Festival website at www.hudsonvalleycheesefestival.com.

Take a Winter Walk - Hawthorne Valley Farm will lead winter walks at various sites around the County in February.  During the walks attendees will dabble in winter botany and , if weather allows, with snow tracking, plus some bits and pieces of history and geology.  Dress warmly for the walks and feel free to bring along a hot beverage to keep warm.  The walks begin at 1:00 pm and go to 3:00 pm.  The dates are February 8 & February 22.  The walks are free, but registration is required.  For more information about Hawthorne Valley Farm's Farmscape Ecology program call Conrad Vispo at (518) 781-0243 or visit their website at www.hawthornevalleyfarm.org.

See a Movie - The Valatie Community Theatre is  showing two films this winter.  They are having Sunday Matinees at 2:00 pm and admission is only $5.  On February 15 they will be showing Roman Holiday and on March 15 they will be showing Singin in the Rain.  For tickets or more information about the Valatie Community Theatre call (518) 758-1309 or visit their website at www.valatietheatre.org.
