Albert Rothenberg presents historical novel, Friday, February 8, 5–7 pm. Albert Rothenberg, professor of psychiatry at Harvard University, reads from his novel, “Madness and Glory,” which takes place after the French Revolution. Heat Things up at the Winery

Saturday, February 9 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm Heat Things up with Good Friends, Good Food and of course Great Wine! By mid-February, winter feels like it’s been around fo ra long time already. Great fo r the vineyard, but not so great for out spirits! This year’s way to heat things up with a Group Hug. Come to the Hudson-Chatham Winery in a group of 4 or more and get a card for a free tasting. They will also be samples of spicy foods including R & G’s Maple-Chipotle chevre, Jalapeno cheese and some kickin spreads and we’ll have some specials for upcoming Valentine’s Day. “Cabin Fever” Book Sale

Winter’s getting you down? A gala weekend “Cabin Fever” book sale, featuring thousands of non-fiction and fiction books, might be just the thing to cheer you up. The Friends of the Library will hold the sale from 10 am to 5 pm Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday Feb. 9, and from 10 am to 4 pm Sunday, Feb. 10. Many books are priced in the $1-$2 range, half-price on Sunday. All proceeds from the book sale will go to support the Roe Jan Community Library and its programs. It will take place in the lower level of the library, accessed by a gravel road to the right of the paved driveway. At Stageworks Hudson see APERTURES, APPENDAGES & ARTICHOKES -A New Dance About the Heart by Jamie Stiller. TWO PERFORMANCES ONLY: Saturday, February 9, 2013, 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 10, 2013, 2:00 pm. Incorporating a mix of dance, music, and stage design Apertures, Appendages & Artichokes explores the psychological, metaphorical, and biological perspectives of the human heart, specifically the hearts of women navigating middle-age. The piece examines their relationships with friends, family, colleagues, lovers and, most especially, with themselves. With music inspired by Rock and Roll, Motown, Klezmer, New Age, Doo-Wop and themes from television shows, the visual backdrop features classic paintings by Kahlo, Klimt, Chagall, Rembrandt, Nerdrum and others. Winter Explorations

Saturday, February 9 2:00pm – 4:00pm the Columbia Land Conservancy offers a Winter Explorations with Farmscape Ecology Program. Round Ball Mountain Conservation Area –Ancram. All Agesare welcome and it is FREE. Take a leisurely, guided walk through the winter landscape to learn winter botany. Handouts and optional indoor sessions following the walk will help participants delve deeper into the mysteries of identifying trees and weeds in winter. All levels of knowledge are welcome. The John Corbett Band will perform at Helsinki Hudson located at 405 Columbia Street in Hudson at 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 21. No one has to tell John Corbett that Hollywood stars moonlighting as musicians don’t always get taken seriously. “Out of Time” Historic Fashion Show will be held on Saturday, February 23 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Cost is $20/person. It will be held at the Central House, 220 Main Street, Germantown.  See Clermont’s beautiful collection of ladies’ reproduction costumes, exhibited all at the same time, for the first time ever! Hosted at the historic Central House, this event will feature a parade of Historic fashions from 1750 to 1930, narrated by Clermont State Historic Sites costume supervisor Kjirsten Gustavson.
