On Saturday, October 6th, the Annual Riverfront Artists Marketplace will take place from 10:00 am –4:00 pm at the Riverfront Park, alongside the Hudson Valley Bounty’s annual Chili Fest! We will, again, bring back our popular “Postcard Show”, where artists’ original postcard-sized works of art will be for sale – a great fundraiser and opportunity to own your favorite artists’ original work of art for less than the price of a frame! ARTSWALK Kids will have great family-oriented activities; where you can have your work showcased in the windows of Hudson’s beautiful shops. OK Fall Festival in Kinderhook Village on Saturday, October 6 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (rain or shine). Bring the family for a day of fun! Free activities include: hay rides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, farmers market, apple bake off and live music! Pumpkin decorating & scarecrow making supplies will be provided. Autumn in Austerlitz
16th Annual Autumn in Austerlitz Festival on October 7 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Festival will take place at Old Austerlitz – 11550 State Route 22 in Austerlitz. The festival will feature volunteers dressed in early 1830’s costumes, quilt raffle, silent auction, early 19th century crafters and wares, live music, entertainment & crafts for children, vendors and a variety of food, including homemade soup, bread and baked goods. Hawthorne Valley Fall Festival
Hawthorne Valley Fall Festival On Sunday, October 7 from 10 am to 4 pm, Hawthorne Valley will host its 18th Annual Fall Festival. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. Take a Solar Tour
The Kling Magnetics/SunDog Solar building at 343 Route 295 in Chatham, NY has been chosen to be part of the 17th Annual National Solar Tour on October 13th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm (the event is free!). This open house is a great place to learn about renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency. In addition to 77 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic power with battery back-up, the building is heated with recycled vegetable oil, cooled with a chiller powered by solar thermal heat, insulated with spray foam insulation, lighted with energy efficient automatic lights, and domestic hot water is provided by a combination of solar thermal evacuated tubes and a solar concentrating dish. Representatives of SunDog Solar will be on hand to answer any questions.
ART for ANIMALKIND”
Dinner Extravaganza Where Everyone Wins Free Art — October 16, 2012. Hudson’s favorite animal shelter will soon be hosting their 11th annual “ART for ANIMALKIND,” a terrific show emceed by the incomparable Dini Lamot. Besides enjoying a delicious dinner among friends, all attendees get to choose a piece of free artwork to take home! Artists, galleries, gift shops, and antique shops throughout the region have generously donated artwork for the event. So, it’s a guaranteed great evening with an amazing party favor to remember it by! ”Cool cat” supporters ($100) are seated for dinner at 6:30 pm and get their choice of artwork based on random order. “Feline-thropists” ($1000/couple) and “Humane-a-tarians” ($500/couple) enjoy a private dinner at 5:00 pm as well as first choice of artwork. CR10 Arts LLC is pleased to announce “proceed”, curated by Francine Hunter McGivern. 13th FilmColumbia Festival to be held in Chatham from October 17 – 21. This year’s festival will bring more stars and filmmakers to Columbia County’s hometown than ever before, along with prize-winning films and audience favorites from international festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, New York and Sundance.
