Speed Networking – January 21, 2016

The Most Overlooked Cash Flow Strategy in Business: Using your existing assets to lower your taxable income and increase cash flow – January 27, 2016 – On Wednesday, January 27 at the Chamber from 8:30 – 9:30 am Christie Ellis of Cost Segregation Advisors LLC will have a workshop. Owners and leaseholders of buildings purchased, constructed, enlarged or refurbished since 12/31/86 with building costs in excess of $500K or leasehold improvements in excess of $250K can benefit. Depreciation of certain costs can be accelerated to as little as 5 years, which decreases your tax burden and increases your cash flow. How impactful is Cost Segregation? It can make or break your business. CSA completed a project for a startup dental office. We delivered $19K in savings – greater than an entire year’s worth of rent for this client’s office. An Evening of All Things Whaling – The Hudson Area Library is presenting WHALE HO! on Thursday, January 21st at Café Le Perche, 230 Warren Street, Hudson. At 6pm hear Carlo DeVito, Editorial Director of The Wreck of the Whale Ship Essex as he provides stories and illustrations about this horrific disaster – the inspiration for Moby Dick. Holistic Health Open House on Saturday, January 23 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The Columbia Medical Park is known as the home for the county’s dialysis center and sleep study center. Recently, new health care providers in the facility include physical therapy, nutrition, massage and chiropractic health services. The facility is well suited to providing a one-stop-shop for preventive and holistic health care services in Columbia county. The open house will feature short presentations by each provider on interesting topics of interest. Free health screenings will be provided, along with door prizes and refreshments. Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Annual Gala & Auction – The Gala & Auction is a wonderful evening and opportunity to support the Adaptive Sports Foundation. For over 30 years, attendees have come together to enjoy great food, friends and join in the fun of a silent auction. Items for bid include trips to exotic locales, golfing at some of the areas finest courses, and hard-to-get tickets to special events, concerts and ball games. The Adaptive Sports Foundation provides profound and life changing experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities and chronic illnesses through outdoor physical activity, education, support and community. Columbia-Greene Community College is offering several non-credit Professional Development classes in January and February 2016! ServSafe Certification is the mandated training for food service workers and managers. Classes will be held January 26 and 27, 4:00pm-8:00pm. The cost is $135.00 and includes the exam. Notary Public Seminar prepares you for the NYS Public Test. The class is Wednesday, January 27, 6:00pm-9:00pm, and the fee is $62.00. The 8-hour Pre-Assignment Security Guard fills up quickly, so register early. The class will be held on February 27, 8:00am-4:00pm. The fee is $90.00. In addition, we are offering the Sixteen Hour on the Job Training Course for newly hired Security Officers. This class meets on 2 Saturdays, beginning January 16, and is 8:00am-4:00pm.
