Dr. Samira Y. Khera is a Fellowship-trained Board Certified breast surgeon and vein care specialist. She is a native of upstate NY and grew up in Corning where her father was a pediatrician. She now resides in Hudson and has been practicing in the Hudson Valley since 2009. She has an office in Kingston and recently started a new office in Hudson at the Hudson ENT office of Dr. Michael Kortbus at 810 Union Street. Dr. Khera is on the medical staff at Benedictine and Columbia Memorial Hospitals. She is in private practice. She graduated from Wellesley College and Georgetown Medical School. She completed her general surgery residency at UMASS and Fellowship in breast surgery at Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute / U. of South Florida, in Tampa.
Dr. Khera welcomes new patients with Varicose Veins and Spider Veins. She offers treatment with laser ablation and is the only practice in Hudson doing laser ablation treatment for varicose veins. Laser ablation is nonsurgical treatment and is covered by insurance. It is performed under local anesthesia in the office. Other treatments include phlebectomy and sclerotherapy. She will discuss evaluation and treatment of chronic venous insufficiency. It is a disease that affects men and women and all ages. It is hereditary and affects people who stand on their feet a long time and women who have had babies.
Dr. Khera is the only Fellowship-trained breast surgeon serving Columbia, Greene, and Ulster counties and on staff at Benedictine Hospital and Columbia Memorial Hospital. She sees new patients both men and women all ages with breast problems. She performs high risk assessment and genetic BRCA testing. She also performs ultrasound and stereotactic biopsies and mastectomy and lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer treatment. She is also experienced in partial breast radiation therapy balloon catheter placement for shorter radiation treatment. She will discuss all aspects of breast health from diagnosis to treatment.
