Firefighter Fran & Firestar
Firefighter Fran & Firestar the Dalmation, will present an interactive show on fire safety the will have the whole family excited about fire prevention.  After the show there will be a meet and greet Firestar and pose for a picture with this crazy canine.  This fun family event will take place on Saturday, January 16 at 10:30 am at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting located at 117 Harry Howard Ave in Hudson.  For more information visit

Short Stack for a Tall Cause
Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser breakfast to support Berkshire Farm, Burnham Brotherhood on Saturday, January 16 from 8:00 – 10:00 am.  Tickets are $6.00.  100% of the proceeds will be donated to support at Risk Youth.  Applebee’s is located at 420 Fairview Ave in Hudson.

An Evening of All Things Whaling 
The Hudson Area Library
is presenting WHALE HO! on Thursday, January 21st at Café Le Perche, 230 Warren Street, Hudson.  At 6pm hear Carlo DeVito, Editorial Director of The Wreck of the Whale Ship Essex as he provides stories and illustrations about this horrific disaster – the inspiration for Moby Dick. Entry fee at the door is $25.00 and includes a complimentary glass of grog.  At 8pm, Le Perche chef Lea Brogan and her team will serve a whaling inspired dinner exclusively to those with reservations. Holistic Health Open House
Saturday, January 23 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  The Columbia Medical Park is known as the home for the county’s dialysis center and sleep study center.  Recently, new health care providers in the facility include physical therapy, nutrition, massage and chiropractic health services.  The facility is well suited to providing a one-stop-shop for preventive and holistic health care services in Columbia county.  The open house will feature short presentations by each provider on interesting topics of interest.  Free health screenings will be provided, along with door prizes and refreshments. They are located on Route 66 in Ghent.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information call 518-965-6099.

Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Annual Gala & Auction 
The Gala & Auction is a wonderful evening and opportunity to support the Adaptive Sports Foundation.  For over 30 years, attendees have come together to enjoy great food, friends and join in the fun of a silent auction.  Items for bid include trips to exotic locales, golfing at some of the areas finest courses, and hard-to-get tickets to special events, concerts and ball games.  The Adaptive Sports Foundation provides profound and life changing experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities and chronic illnesses through outdoor physical activity, education, support and community.  ASF is able to offer these services to individuals with disabilities for little or no cost, in part, through fundraising events such as the 2016 Gala & Auction.   Date: February 6, 2016  at Windham Country Club 36 County Route 12.
