20th Anniversary – Winter Walk in Hudson
Winter Walk in Hudson – 20th Anniversary on Saturday, December 3 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Hudson’s mile-long Warren Street is transformed into a festive boulevard with twinkling lights, brightly decorated shops, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, live reindeer, petting zoo, horse-drawn wagon, carolers, and a legion of characters and performers.  An evening holiday festivities followed by fireworks from Promenade Hill.  For more detailed information visit

See a Show
The Turn of the Scrooge – The Annual Panto at The Ghent Playhouse, December 2-4 and December 9-11.  Spend time with all the familiar characters – and maybe a few new ones – as The Loons return with their own zany spin on the classic holiday tale, “A Christmas Carol”, with another terrific original British-American Panto.  Great fun for the whole family!  To purchase tickets or for more information on times and other shows, visit

Yuletide Fair
On Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School Yuletide Fair and Gingerbread House Auction.  This family friendly annual event is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The school is transformed into a winter wonderland with a large display of original gingerbread creations; dozens of artisan vendors selling handcrafted items; puppet show by Magical Puppet Tree; Community Craft Room; beeswax candle making; Cake Walk; live music; delicious food and more! Silent and live auction and high end raffle prizes!

Annual Winter Celebration at Lindenwald
to Celebrate National Park Service Centennial on Saturday, December 3 from 12:00 – 4:00 pm will take with a slightly different theme.  The Kinderhook Garden Club will be creating arrangements reminiscent of the early twentieth century.  Admission to the house is free, but reservations for guided tours are a must.  Tours will be offered on the half hour beginning at 12:00 pm.  To make a reservation go to or call 518-758-9689.

31st Annual Gallery of Wreaths
The Columbia County Historical Society invites you to the 31st Annual Gallery of Wreaths Exhibition and Silent Auction at the Vanderpoel House of History on December 2, 3 & 4 from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.  Event is free and open to the public.  They are located at 16 Broad Street in Kinderhook.

Pre-Holiday Concert at Camphill Ghent
Concert-goers will be transported to faraway lands with “Romanticism Pre and Post” on Saturday, December 3 at 3:00 pm in the Culture Hall at Camphill Ghent as the Chamber music series continues with music by Debussy, Martinu, Dvorak, Part and Elgar.  Violinist Joana Genova and violist Ariel Rudiakov will join The concerts at Camphill Ghent Artistic Director Gili Melamed-Lev at the piano. Santa will be visiting the Columbia-Greene Humane Societyfor photos with your pets.  Santa Clause and his helpers will be visiting the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA for photos with pets. Santa will be at CGHS/SPCA Saturday December 3rd with no appointment necessary. Santa is asking for $20 donation to the shelter, and photos will be emailed to families for cards and letters.  Renowned photographer Jerry Freedner will be behind the camera, whose photos have been featured in dozens of local galleries and publications.   Please have all dogs on leashes and cats in carriers.  Photos are with pets only.  For more information please call 518-828-6044 ext. 100.

Holiday Craft Fair
Camphill Ghent host first Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, December 10 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm in the Culture Hall located at 2542 Route 66 in Ghent.  There will be handmade wreaths, knitted and woven items, earrings, cutting boards, dog treats, centerpieces and candles are just a sampling of the items that will be for sale at the holiday craft fair.  The event is free and open to the public.

Matt Bua Presents his Book Talking Walls
On Saturday, December 10 at 4:00 pm the Claverack Library will host local author Matt Bua, presenting his resent book, Talking Walls.  Admirers of stone walls, walkers, artists, local history buffs, aspiring masons, and lovers of handmade books will be drawn to this unusual volume, a perfect holiday gift.  Refreshments will be served, and books will be available for sale.  The Claverack Free Library is located at 629 Route 23B at the intersection of Route 9H.  Parking is located behind the Library.  For information contact or 518-851-7120.

A Christmas Carol at The Vanderbilt Hosue
You’ve seen Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the Ghosts of Christmas from a theatre seat. This season, why not dine with them? Kick off the holiday season with song, laughter and nostalgia as actors and carolers bring scenes from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to life. The historic Vanderbilt House in Philmont, New York will present this unique dinner show on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 18th at 5:30 PM.
