NOUS – A Musical Rite

Nous is an experimental music project exploring ritual and spontaneity within music.  The impulse came after multi-instrumentalist Christopher Bono finished his latest full-length orchestral work, Bardo, to be released in 2014.  After spending nearly two years working on the score and studio recording, Bono was driven to experience and investigate new and completely different approaches to musical creation.  Featuring Christopher Bono, Greg Fox, Shahzad Ismaily, Thor Harris and Grey Mcmurray.  With Special Guests Clarice Jensen, Caleb Burhans, Laura Lutzke, Alex Sopp, Imago, and Laraaji & Arji.  This is the first public performance.  Doors open at 7pm for ambient pre-show.  Tickets $15 in advance. $20 at the door. Good Fight Herb Co. – Seminar

Herbalist and founder of Good Fight Herb Co., Lauren Giambrone, will be teaching a seminar on herbal medicines at Verdigris Tea & Chocolate Bar on Saturday, February 1st.  Giambrone has studied at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine and apprenticed with 7Song.  The class runs from 5 – 7 pm and costs $10.00 per person.  Reservations are required. Support STRIDE’s Wounded Warrior

A dinner sponsored by the Knights of Columbus will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie.  Take-outs available .  Tickets are $10.00 for adults and children under 12 are $7.00.  Call Frank at 784-2235 for reservations.  Proceeds benefit “STRIDE” to support Adaptive Sports Programs for Wounded Soldiers.  For more information about STRIDE Adaptive Sports, visit their website at www.stride.org.

Wine Tasting Anyone!

Crossroads Project

On Saturday, February 15 at 7:00 pm at the Hudson Opera House, The Crossroads Project fuses art and science to examine the Earth’s changing climate.  At the center of the project is a multi-media concert featuring the Frey Street Quartet performing a newly commissioned work by Laura Kaminsky as well as works by Haydn and Janacek, interwoven with live commentary by physicist Dr. Robert Davies to explore mankind’s impact on the climate and how society might respond.  Admission is $25/adults, $20/HOH members.  For more information call 518-822-1438 or visit their website at www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

Spencer Day in Concert

One Night Only!  Spencer Day in Concert at Stageworks/Hudson on Saturday, February 15 at 8:30 pm.  Share a romantic evening with a loved one, a close friend, or dare to go dateless and meet someone new!  Complimentary chocolates and Prosecco reception after the show. 17th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count

On February 16th at 9:00 am at Ooms Conservation area at Sutherland Pond – Main Parking Area – 480 Rock City Rd in Chatham.  Join fellow birders, a local birding expert, and CLC staff as we all become citizen scientists for the morning. We will identify and count birds at feeders, and collect data for a nation-wide survey. We’ll have binoculars and bird guides, but bring your own if you have them. Winter Wonderland Family Fun Day

Aoife O’Donovan @ Helsinki Hudson

A Haunting at the Vanderbilt House

On Saturday, February 22, 2014 there will be a Haunting at the Vanderbilt House:  Spooky stories brought to life.  Based on stories in Catskills by Lisa LaMonica/The History Press; author booksigning included.  Performance by the Murder Café Players.  There will be local tales of treachery, legends and lore staged by the ghoulish characters.  Three course dinner, live music and atmosphere by the Vanderbilt House.  Cost is $50/pp (excluding tax and gratuity).  Doors open at 6:30 pm.   Dinner and show at 7:00 pm.  It will be a night you won’t soon forget.  Reservations are required and seating is limited to 80 people.For more information contact the Vanderbilt House at 518-672-9993.
