Old Fashioned Independence Day
A great day for young and old on Wednesday, July 4 from 2:00 – 10:00 pm at Clermont State Historic Site in Germantown. The day will feature 18th Century Crafts, re-encators, music and entertainment. Enjoy live music and delicious hot food until you are able to enjoy a view of the Saugerties Fireworks over the Hudson River. Admission is $10-12.

Family Barbeque at Love Apple Farm
Love Apple Farm at 1421 Route 9H in Ghent, NY, will host its first Family Barbecue on Friday, July 6 from 4-7 pm at the Love Apple Farm market (rain or shine). The farm fresh and abundant dinner will feature roast pork, salads, side dishes, dessert and drinks. Also featured is locally brewed beer and unlimited beverages. Guests will enjoy live music, and lawn games and lots of time to explore the orchard, pick fruit and shop in the fresh market. Dancing Under the Stars
Saturday, July 7 at 8:00 p.m, enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres and live, energetic music by Nkumu Katalay overlooking the firefly-lit sculpture park at Omi, in the company of our artists-in-residence and upstate arts community. 42nd Annual Chatham Summer Fest

“Gemini Moon” Art Showing
The Hudson Area Library is pleased to announce the installation of “Gemini Moon”, a special art exhibition in the library’s community room featuring the work of Congolese visionary and artist Ntangou Badila. This show reflects Ntangou’s inner process with creativity and the continuous flow of new interests with endless ideas and potentials for that creativity. The exhibition is composed of paintings, not in one theme or style, but with a number of series in which various styles and themes exist happily and cohesively in the same space informing and conversing with one another. The opening reception of this exhibition is Tuesday, July 10 at 6pm. The exhibition, which is wheelchair accessible, will be available for viewing during library open hours through August 30, 2018. Premiere of “Tales of Europe”
The regional premiere of “Tales of Europe,” a series of five new and acclaimed contemporary films from France and Italy, each of which screened at major international film festivals this year, including Cannes, Toronto and Rome, among others. The Crandell will serve as the films’ exclusive host venue in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. This will take place at the Crandell Theatre, July 13 – 18, 2018. Open Day at Equine Advocates
Saturday, July 14. Equine Advocates Rescue & Sanctuary. OPEN DAY! 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Located at 3212 State Route 66. Just 2 miles north of the village of Chatham. Come spend a few hours walking around and meeting our 80 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, most of whom were rescued from slaughter, abuse and/or neglect. All are now happily enjoying their new life at the sanctuary. Please feel free to picnic at our pond which is one of the most beautiful and serene spots at the sanctuary. We have graphics posted at each paddock so you can learn about where each animal came from and why they needed to be rescued. This helps make your visit a much more personal and educational experience. Please note that all visitors will need to sign a release form upon arrival. Sorry no pets allowed. There is no charge, but we surely do appreciate donations! Equine Advocates is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the protection of horses, ponies, donkeys & mules.
16th Annual Car Show on Sunday, July 29 (Rain Date: Sunday, August 5) located at Whittier Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center located at 1 Whittier Way in Ghent. Event proceeds will benefit residents at Whittier Rehabilitation & Whittier Place. Car registration is $10. Spectators are FREE. There will also be entertainment and arts & crafts vendors. 19th Annual BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL (Rain or Shine)
This ever-popular event on Sunday, July 29 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, features early 19th Century craft demonstrations and wares, antiques and silent auction, live music and entertainment, magic act, activities for children, animals, birds of prey, sheep-shearing, plus many unique and highly talented craft vendors. There will be blueberries galore and a blueberry pancake breakfast, in addition to a wide selection of tasty food items and baked goods. (Please note that there is an additional charge for both adults and children for the pancake breakfast.)
